Follow These Four Tips For Creating A Better Resume

Have you not been getting many responses from the jobs you've been applying to? If so, the problem may be with the first impression you are making with your resume. It will help to follow these tips to ensure that your resume sticks out among all the other applicants.

Keep It To One Page

One thing to keep in mind is that the people that are responsible for going through resumes for a job posting are sorting through potentially hundreds of resumes. That's why you'll want to keep your resume short and concise by limiting it to a single page. This will also help keep your resume to the essential information that hiring managers are looking for since they may not even read that second page of the resume and simply scan through the first page.

Only Include Relevant Experience

A common mistake is listing all of the work experience that you have and filling up a resume with information that is not important. This means that your resume should be tailored for every single position that you are applying for. If you are applying for a job in graphic design, a hiring manager is not going to be interested in your retail work experience. They would rather read about the internship you had in college than the paying job that is not related to the field you are applying to.

Focus On Achievements

Hiring managers are not that concerned about the responsibilities of your previous jobs, since they can often guess what those things are based on your previous job titles. Instead, you should be focusing on your achievements of what you did while employed at previous companies. This is the unique information that helps give a clearer picture of the kind of work that you were actually doing.

For example, if you are a graphic designer, saying that you created advertisements using various types of software doesn't add much to your resume. However, saying that you created a print campaign for a Fortune 500 company that was shown in a specific print publication means a lot more.

Use A Resume Writing Service

If you are struggling with the process of writing your resume, know that you can hire a resume writing service to do it for you. They will ask about all your previous work experience and compile the ideal resume that they know will get noticed. It will give you an edge that can help stand out above the other candidates.
